Artwork in the Metro

Montreal’s metro system is filled with a variety of artwork. Made from a wide range of materials, all in different sizes and locations, the network becomes a gallery. The only difference being, most people don’t have the time to stop and take a look. This book is meant to highlight some of the most important or interesting works displayed across the network.

Curating the content that would be presented in this book was one of the most important tasks. With the number of artworks spread across the network, it would not have been possible to display them all and remain within the given page count. The artworks were selected based on importance, visual interest, and the available photographs.

The content was then divided into four chapters, corresponding to the different metro lines.  Each chapter begins by displaying a selection of artworks. It is then followed by details about those artworks. And lastly, a complete list of artworks is given to end the chapter.
